Just when you think you're back in the ol' saddle and riding high, something comes along and wipes that cocky grin off your face. I've been up most of the night and all day so far, violently sick to my stomach. (And in case you're wondering, my oven is currently sans bun, thanks for asking.)
If anyone has any tips for how to drink and keep down common filtered water, I'd appreciate it. I'm pruning up over here.

Try Pedialyte! Feel better!
It's totally unhelpful to say, "But prunes are delicious!", isn't it?
My advice is to get yourself some electrolyte supplements. I'm assuming this is what Pedialyte is... If you find drinking too hard, freeze up some electrolye-rich sports drink with a little fruit juice, in ice trays or icy-pole molds. I did this when I was getting over a bad 'flu and somehow sucking on something fruity and hydrating seemed like much less work than trying not to retch every time I took a sip of water. Plus, cold things + sore throat from vomiting = slippery, icy relief.
I third the Pedialyte/electrolyte suggestions. Really, anything you would do for your baby will work for you - I generally turn to "What to Expect the First Year" when my doctor-phobic husband gets sick, and it usually delivers.
Short of Pedialyte, try some ginger ale. Sip slowly and don't drink a ton..... oh, being sick totally sucks. Hopefully it's just a 24/48-hour thing. Ugh.
making very weak black tea (not herbal) can help, because the tannins in the tea act as an astringent. Ginger tea might help too
Lemonade. It works wonders. Anything mint is supposed to settle stomachs as well. Decaff mint tea, caffiene will just makie it worse.
Sybil, my cat, hasn't been eating or drinking (and, suffice it to say, pooping) lately, and the vet suggested I put some food/water/laxative on her paw which would force her to lick it off. Perhaps that would work for you?
just start with ice cubs
cubes..lol cubs would really make you barf
As a girl who has thrown up a fair amount in her life, my advice is to take some Gravol, get some Gatorade to make sure you don't get dehydrated, and rest. Hope that helps and I hope you are feeling much, much better soon.
Well, the back corner of my brain which was the last thing to be within the walls of a biology class before I ran out the door towards graduation screaming jubilantly is telling me that you're losing salts and other things as well as water, so the first thing that popped into my head was eating salt by the spoonful once you get the water down, which doesn't solve the problem.
I really should never have kids. Or cook for others.
Hope you feel better soon!
(Ohohoh--soda crackers. Salted or unsalted tops, take your pick. I prefer Premium Plus unsalted plain, myself; salted if you're putting anything else on the cracker.)
There. I tried to help. Really, I did.
