Not the hugest fan of eating either. But are the recipes all easy and fast? I shunned chocolate and meat and vegetables equally and accepted only toast and the odd potato.

I won't say how long this lasted. I don't want to throw any parents into despair.

I felt like I had my karmic comeuppance this last summer, though, when I was nannying for a kid whose pickiness equaled my own.featherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13538262882722997533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9931308.post-39692313289073100642007-05-07T23:07:00.000-07:002007-05-07T23:07:00.000-07:00I'm not in the least bit picky (although my son wa...I'm not in the least bit picky (although my son was) but I'd like to have this cookbook for myself.Bybeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10061186489010154661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9931308.post-31697248170149003512007-05-07T19:58:00.000-07:002007-05-07T19:58:00.000-07:00So, if I'm just a picky eater in my twenties with ...So, if I'm just a picky eater in my twenties with no kids, would I like this cookbook to cook stuff for myself?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9931308.post-88588849742427530462007-05-07T18:37:00.000-07:002007-05-07T18:37:00.000-07:00Oh, I am very excited about this! I just like looking at the happy photos and imagining us as a family that is able to all sit down together and eat the same meal.

Glad to know my picky little girl who appears to suvive on nothing but air and the occasional bland cracker is not ruining her chances of growing up to be a well read and witty woman.

And finally - you referenced the Trapper Keeper! Heavy on the chicken recipes, though.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9931308.post-64211906827498683572007-05-07T04:50:00.000-07:002007-05-07T04:50:00.000-07:00Picky? As a child, I too ate the canned peas, but only the Green Giant Baby Lesueur peas in the silver can, and I picked through all of them, removing any that had DENTS.

And now my mother laughs, because I have the three pickiest children on the face of the earth. Pete, for instance, is on what his pediatrician calls the Great Beige Diet: pancakes, bananas, vanilla yogurt, American cheese, plain pasta, etc. And, for instance, he will eat two pieces of American cheese and two pieces of wheat bread, but put 'em together and make a cheese sandwich? No way.

Sigh.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15086033722247408723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9931308.post-9464795402550448262007-05-07T03:24:00.000-07:002007-05-07T03:24:00.000-07:00Wow. I think I was fourteen before I found a food I wouldn't eat; that must have had something to do with my mother's accomodating way of saying, "Okay, but you're not getting anything else instead." That is a method I copied through my years as a nanny and boy, after the initial acclimation period, it saves you loads of time!

"No, you don't have to eat your burrito bean bake fiesta surprise. My middle son, however, doesn't just eat whatever I give him; he wants to try the wackiest things on the menu! So, it's sometimes a trial to make meals that are diverse and exciting, when, after a busy day, all I want to make is something tried and true. His favourite food at the moment is sushi, so one of my friends has been showing me how to make it, and we've been making trips to Japanese restaurants. I think, however, that we may be paying a visit to a restaurant in Edinburgh called the Stockbridge Restaurant, as it has just started a Tots Taster Menu which has 6 courses *Frothy espresso of sweetcorn soup with popcorn croutons *Squashy risotto with butternut crisps *Organic Shetland salmon fish cakes on a bed of vegetable tagliatelle or venison casserole *Paint pot sorbets *Babylicious choc pots with fresh fruit fingers *Choccycinos with baby mallows.
