WEB: Bloggedy Blog Blog Blog

My younger sister, hereafter to be referred to as DoppelSis, is in town for a few days, so my posting may be sporadic. Or not! Who can say!

In the meantime, I'd like to pose a question:

Why are
all the funniest, smartest, raddest people I read only published online? Why aren't they getting book deals and tall dollars just to blog? Because, really, the world needs more of what they're dishing out.

In related news, I had a dream last night that I was hanging out with Heather Armstrong. Does this mean I'm spending too much time online?

Hola Doppelganger!

You've been tagged, my dear! ;)

1) Name five of your favourite books.

2) What was the last book you bought?

3) What was the last book you read?

4) List five books that have been particularly meaningful to you (in no particular order).

5) Name three books you've been dying to read but just haven't gotten around to it?

6) Tag five people and have them fill this quiz out on their own.

Cheerio...

Look who’s talking! When I’m at your site I gawk in wonder thinking, “She’s giving this away for free?” You’re constantly brilliant and you’re prolific as all get-out—particularly so considering, you know, you’ve got a freaking baby on the property (which I imagine takes up more than a few minutes of your day). In short: you are a fucking rock star!

P.S. I met a couple from Utah last week who had the audacity to not know Dooce personally. I’d be lying if I said the conversation didn’t go downhill immediately after that.

Dave's right! You are a rock star!
I've dreamed about hanging out with Heather, too. If I were her, that would freak me out to no end. And yes, I did take it to mean I was spending too much time on the Internet. Did I cut back? No. I just broadened my blog-reading horizons.

Ha! I know! I totally think the same thing about your writing, and Mike Bevel's too. My day just isn't the same when I don't get a good solid dose of you two (like gone phishin last week... ahg.) Plus, I dreamed I met you about six weeks ago... BTW you were funny and smart in person too.

My best friend and I were chatting about TV the other day, lamenting Buffy's absence and concurring that Veronica Mars is no Buffy. While talking, I remembered that in fourth grade, I was reading Sweet Valley High - the one where the skinny girl is gawky and embarassed about being skinny and wants to be slender like her mom. I put the book down at one point because I needed to talk to my friend - the friend, though, was the gawky, skinny girl. For a moment, I believed so deeply in that world that I had dreamed them right into reality. Even then, I stopped, laughed, and shook my head at the momentary delusion. I recounted the story to my friend, saying that kind of confusion is not only not crazy to me, but desirable, and what I felt for Buffy - I missed the Scoobies when they were gone, couldn't wait for 7 pm Tuesday, cared about them. Ookliy spookily enough, the DHAK gang is finding its way into my heart in that way. I used to live in the same building as the woman who writes the Redhead Papers, so there is just enough of a reality thread to catalyze the fantasy friendships. I'm not proud of it and had planned to fight it. But then, damn, there was Wing Chun in a recent (non-sexy) dream, and Doppelganger walking in to compare notes on motherhood and exclaiming that yes, the Corkscrew Inn in Kits IS amazing. So, I'm a fangirl after all. And now that I've admitted it, I'm happy to feel less ashamed.

I think you're the only person who reads my blog who I've not actually met. Seriously.

Thanks for all the shoutin'-outin'.

I used to write a bunch in college, but usually for deadlines and assignments (Creative Writing ... I miss thee). Now, not so much because I've got less drive than a nun on a bicycle with flat tires.

Though, I did have a book idea yesterday, though. But it was a financial help book ... without a plot. But something to help me log how much I spend on groceries and compare individual prices so I can finally figure out what stuff like grapes and french bread are supposed to cost.
