Fruit: The Musical

I've got to tell you: I've had a killer headache on-and-off for most of this week, which is killing productivity in pretty much every area of my life. I'm going to pop an Advil or ten, then go and lie down, but not before I offer you something that just might make the click it took you to get here worthwhile. Because I'm all about providing value.

Bibliophiles get a bad rap. Pretentious, some people call us. Highbrow, accuse others. Snootypants... well, no one actually says that, BUT THEY THINK IT.

Lest anyone think that all we book-lovers do is sit around on the floor with wine and cheese, mispronouncing words like "allegorical" and "didacticism", I offer you an exhibit of just the kind of antics that regularly take place here at the 50 Books salon:

(In case you're wondering, yes, Sam is in fact channeling the vocal stylings of William Shatner.)

That officially tops my recording of Edna St. Vincent Millay reading "Recuerdo" as my favorite piece of performed poetry.

Stuff like that doesn't go on in MY house. We ARE pretentious, highbrow and snootypantsical. Yeah, right. I'm the one who doesn't even have bookshelves. Just piles, and piles, and piles...

Sam is adorable.

Seriously, I keep telling myself I don't want kids, and then I see stuff like that and I just want to smooch Sam on his head and my uterus twitches. Cutest baby ever.

Also, I've replaced the word "musical" in my vocabulary with the word "moogada." It's much more evocative.

Took me two viewings to figure out what he was saying - I didn't realize that there was a 2nd verse! Hooray indeed!

So adorable.

I think my favorite part is actually what I'm assuming is Rusty yelling out "Hurray!" at the end. That, and how hard Sam seemed to be concentrating on remembering the words.

How completely precious. Hope the headache goes away soon.

That was too cute. I remember my uncle getting in trouble for teaching us that song. We were 10 though, so it's probably not cute then.

That was awesome!

(Note to self: must teach that to nephew...)
