BOOKS: Sex Libris*

And speaking of book shelving that makes you lose control of your bodily functions...

Wow. I mean... wow. It's just... how can I put this into words? Wow.

For more "full-frontal library objectification" (and bigger, higher-quality images), go here.

(Big ups to erinnej for the link!)

*I shamelessly ripped off this post title from the nonist. It was just too awesome not to re-use.

If you like all this stuff, you should read "The Library at Night" by Alberto Manguel. It has pictures, but also looks at the different aspects of libraries, from their beginnings to home libraries.

Ever see the movie 'The Name of the Rose'? Now there's a library for you.

This book has given me the idea that when I travel I need to check out libraries in the area. The pictures in this book are absolutely beautiful!

I have a friend who used to read computer magazines. They had sexy pictures of computers and I'd tease him about it being computer porn. The car magazines put girls in bikinis, but most car lovers I'm betting wish the girl wasn't in the way. There's food and furniture porn, but I'd have never imagined libraries... There is the Ludacris song "We could do it in the library on top of books, but we can't be too loud." But I still can't imagine the library being sexy without the quietly doing it.

It's not up to the baroque finery of the pictures in the link, but in Melbourne, we're very proud of our state library - the reading room is on a grand scale and worth including in a tour of the world's libraries.

Oh yes I have been to that Library in St Gallen... you have to put on super sexy sock things to walk around - which basically means you end up polishing the floors when visiting. It is gorgeous and also includes some amazing exhibits in the library. Truly a bibliophiles mecca!

I'll try that again...

OK, plug State Library of Victoria into Wikipedia. Should have said that in the first place.

Oh my.

I...

Is it getting warm in here?

I'm in lust with the photos of the libraries in Dublin, Madrid, Rio de Janero, Amsterdam and The Hague.

I need a cigarette...

I was at the Trinity college library a few months ago and oh my god I was so ecstatically happy! But they don't let you touch any of the books unless you have special permission from the college and a scholar pass. But O, it is amazing. And the smell of it! Old books and wood polish! I wanted to run away and live in that library.
