Now, Where Was I?

As you may have guessed (if, in fact, there still is a "you" out there after my long silence), I've been taking a little break from this site. Being a mom to two kids -- no matter how awesome said kids are -- kind of kicked my ass for a while. And I got the Apartment Therapy gig, which is great fun, but takes up the little free time I have. And I just signed on to start work on another site this fall, for a tremendously cool and inspiring show that'll be on the Food Network in the spring. And I finally cleaned my closet.

But I'll be back, I swear. I'm still tracking my reading, such as it is. (Bad news: Unless you count kids' books, I'm not going to hit 50 books this year, for the first time since I started this site.)

I've missed you guys (again with the hypothetical "you"). Stick around, okay?

I'll stick around I promise, and I think a collection of kids books all by one author can count as one book.

that's not a BREAK. That's barely over a month. That's just an amateurish break if you ask me.

Some friends and I are thinking of setting up a magazine reading club, since we can't actually read anymore than 3 paragraphs without losing the plot

Miss reading your posts too! Still here, always eager for your next post.

And congrats on getting the new gigs. :)

I've been a lurker on this site for a while now (I usually prefer to remain mysterious...or creepy, I guess, depending on how you look at it), but I had to reply to this last post. To say, mostly, that I love your blog and look forward to reading more, whenever you catch your breath. I'm a writer, and knowing that there are passionate readers like you out there always buoys me up. So thank you!
Debbie
P.S. I haven't cleaned my closet in years, and I don't even have kids. I'm wildly impressed!

Take as long as you want to. I'll still be here. Remember, photos of your kids still count as posting!

Also, I see that you have been checking out The Soap Lady. I love that book. And, having seen the real sop lady at the Mutter Museum, I have to say that it takes a special mind to turn that thing into such a magical story.

I love that I'm still in your blog-roll even though we've all evolved gills and the power of levitation since the last time I posted anything of worth.

So, because of that, of course I'll wait for you.

Will do. Gladly.

popped by today because I was a worried reader. Very glad to have heard that you're enjoying the kids and such. Have a lovely break.

Second - I'm in the same boat of constantly reading kids books but surely you've enjoyed some of them?! My personal favorite from last year is Flostam.

Anyhoo - I'll be hanging round :D

Regular reader here, glad to see you're still around. :)

I don't know if you've already seen these, but they are awesome bookshelves that I have been drooling over for a few weeks now. They look like they're out of a Dr. Seuss book! Sadly, I am a poor graduate student and cannot afford them. Maybe one day...

I'm a lurker, too, and just wanted to say that I have really enjoyed your posts over the past couple of years. You've turned me on to some fun reads and I enjoy your writing style. Good luck with the munchkins and with the blogging...

Today I came across something that I still can't decide if I love or hate, but whatever my reaction turns out to be, right then I immediately thought that you needed to see it.

Anyways, I miss your posts and though I can't decide if this is the worst thing ever or the coolest thing ever, I pass it on, hoping someday you'll come back to the tubes:
